Martin

it’s sunday morning, and i just received devastating news. my manager, Martin L, has passed away due to medical complications during surgery. he had been in critical condition for around a week.
he played a major role during my interview process, persuading me to join this great company. he guided me through every step, treated me with respect, and never made me feel less than.
we shared many personal stories with each other about religion, politics, and other topics that might be considered unconventional in our industry, but transparency and respect were always there. he was truly down to earth. he invited me to germany and provided me with all the support (including lunch passes). he always asked about my whereabouts and shared how proud he was of our software engineering chapter. we sat together and talked about the future, ai, and humanity.
i just had a 1:1 meeting with him recently where i showed him the progress we’ve made on one of the projects and how far we’ve come. he was very happy and proud. he also mentioned how glad he was to have me in the company. always have reassured that i am valued here. he was very kind individual and full of energy.
i will miss him greatly. he was the best manager i ever had. he was my friend.
i just wanted to share this with my friends and colleagues: don’t take your coworkers for granted. every moment and interaction counts… kindness always prevails.
